What is the Canadian Dental Care Plan(CDCP)?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a government-funded program administered through Sunlife Insurance on behalf of the Federal government and will act as a supplement to cover some of the dental care costs. The percentage of coverage will vary based on the individual’s total family income. Eligible Canadians will be responsible for paying the difference not covered by the plan directly to their dental provider. Coverage varies from 100% to 40% depending on your eligibility.
The CDPC is being rolled out this year to help ease financial barriers to accessing oral health care for eligible uninsured Canadian residents with a total family income of $90,000 or less per year. Applications have started opening up in phases, starting with invitation letters going out to Canadian residents from December 2025 to June 2023. Followed by invitation letters for those with disabilities and children up to age 18. And then finally, the remaining Canadian residents will be offered the opportunity to apply in January 2025.
Dental providers have the choice to register as a provider for this program. MobileDent Is a registered provider and will be accepting the CDCP benefit plan.
